1. Choose AI Voice Add, a Mac Shortcut, Siri, or one field
AI Voice Add is TickTick’s connected AI workflow for turning mobile speech into task titles, dates, times, lists, tags, priorities, and sometimes multiple tasks. TickTick’s current What’s New page explicitly labels it Mobile only.
On Mac, TickTick documents Apple Shortcuts actions, including a Voice-to-Text recipe built from Apple’s Dictate Text and TickTick’s Add Content to Task. Siri is another Apple action path. Standard macOS Dictation supplies text only to the field already focused. These controls should not be described as one interchangeable microphone.

2. Use AI Voice Add on mobile for structured task capture
In TickTick mobile, press and hold the plus button and enable AI Mode, or use the supported recording mode. Speak the task naturally. TickTick can extract the title, date, time, list, tags, and priority, and it can split several spoken items into multiple tasks.
For a long voice note, AI Voice Add can produce a concise title and keep the full transcript in the description. Review each proposed item, delete unwanted items, resolve either version when TickTick presents two interpretations, then choose Save. The structured result is not committed merely because speech recognition finished.
3. Build TickTick’s documented Voice-to-Text Shortcut on Mac
TickTick’s current guide requires TickTick 4.0.21 or later on macOS. Open Apple Shortcuts, add the Dictate Text action, then add TickTick’s Add Content to Task action. Map the Dictate Text output into the task Title and select the intended List.
Name the Shortcut clearly and run it from Shortcuts, the menu bar, Spotlight, a keyboard shortcut, or another supported Apple trigger. Because the action can add account content, inspect the resulting title, list, date, and other fields in TickTick rather than assuming the dictated phrase mapped correctly.
4. Enable Siri separately from the Mac Shortcut
In TickTick, open Settings → Import & Integration → Siri and add the task-creation command to Siri. TickTick also documents Siri and Shortcuts operations for tasks, lists, focus, and common actions.
Siri language, phrase matching, account selection, and Apple permissions can fail independently of TickTick’s Mac Shortcut or focused-field Dictation. Use a specific list name when needed, then confirm the created task rather than relying only on Siri’s spoken acknowledgement.
5. Dictate into a focused task field and inspect Smart Recognition
For one task that is already open, click its title, description, or another supported editable field, start the macOS Dictation shortcut configured under System Settings → Keyboard, speak, stop, and review the text before saving.
TickTick Smart Recognition can interpret dates and times entered through Quick Add or voice input. On desktop, configure it under Settings → Smart Recognition. Ambiguous date phrases can be mapped to the most recent valid time, and TickTick can remove recognized dates from the visible task text, so inspect the date chip as well as the words.
6. Keep long notes and audio-attachment transcription distinct
A TickTick task can carry date, duration, list, priority, Markdown body text, tags, check items, and attachments. For long prose, choose the destination field first and review formatting and metadata separately from speech recognition.
TickTick’s current What’s New page also describes transcription and summaries for audio attachments. That begins with stored audio and is separate from AI Voice Add creating tasks, an Apple Shortcut adding a task, or live Dictation supplying field text.
7. Preserve AI Voice Add’s quota, network, and privacy boundary
TickTick says AI Voice Add processing usually takes one to two seconds and longer input can take three to five seconds. It uses a monthly quota that resets, and a network failure can fall back to the original transcription instead of the structured AI result.
For AI Voice Add specifically, TickTick says the voice is used only for the current task and is not stored or used for training. Do not transfer that statement to the saved task, its full transcript description, an audio attachment, Siri, Apple Dictation, Shortcuts history, or other TickTick account data.
8. Troubleshoot by control surface
If the TickTick action is absent from Apple Shortcuts, update the Mac app to version 4.0.21 or later, reopen both apps, and verify the action is available. If the Shortcut runs but creates the wrong result, inspect the Dictate Text output, variable mapping, selected List, Smart Recognition, and TickTick account.
If Siri fails, recheck Settings → Import & Integration → Siri, the saved phrase, Siri language, and Apple permissions. If ordinary Dictation fails, test one sentence in TextEdit, then return to the exact TickTick field and check the macOS shortcut, language, microphone, connection requirement, and Voice Control setting.
9. Add IraVoice only for separate local text
Use mobile AI Voice Add when TickTick should interpret speech into structured tasks, Apple Shortcuts for a reusable Mac task action, Siri for its enabled commands, and focused-field Dictation for the task field already selected.
IraVoice 0.7.1 is a separate option for macOS 26+ Apple-silicon Macs when recognition and supported formatting should run on the Mac across supported editable fields, or when a spoken plan should become reviewable Markdown first. IraVoice does not sign in to TickTick, run Shortcuts, invoke Siri, choose lists, parse task dates, assign tags or priorities, create tasks, upload audio, transcribe attachments, or click Save.
